331 AM EDT Mon Jun 18 2018 ...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING... The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a Heat Advisory, which is in effect from noon today to 8 PM EDT this evening. * TEMPERATURE...Afternoon temperatures in the lower to middle 90s, with maximum afternoon heat index values around 105 degrees. * IMPACTS...The heat will lead to hazardous conditions particularly for the elderly, those with preexisting health conditions, and pets. Heat exhaustion or heat stroke is possible.May ran 9.9 degrees above average. This month is “only” 4.3 above average so far, but of course average is higher in June than in May. The latest drought monitor (updated Thursdays) still indicates a dry strip in the center of the state, despite the recent rain and storms.
