Lucky 13!
Today’s the 13th consecutive day that the Indianapolis Airport will report a “zero” snow depth. And that ties a stretch leading up to New Years Day as our longest streak of snow-less-ness since December began.
Rain’s the thing today with the passage of a cold front. No heavy rain is expected, but the winds will gust to 40 mph, and there could be rumbles of thunder, with highs in the low to mid 50s. The showers will pull away to the northeast by later this afternoon, but the wind stays active through this evening. There’s no Arctic air behind this particular cold front.
Astronomical Spring arrives tomorrow, and the real-world weather won’t be bad. Partly to mostly sunny and close to average highs. A warm front Thursday night late could spawn a few showers. We’ll be in the “warm sector” between the warm front and a cold front Friday. Enjoy those 60+ highs while you can. A cold front Friday night means a round of showers and storms, followed by temperatures tanking this weekend.
An unsettled pattern develops next week, and we have rain and some snow chances from Monday night through Wednesday. Yep, I said snow. Nothing heavy is expected, but we could certainly get dusted at least once during the period. Keep in mind: the average last snowfall in Indy doesn’t happen until March 30.
In an AVERAGE year, mind you!
