Hard Drives
February 21st, 2008 No Comments
What a day. All computers I touched turned to whatever-is-the-opposite-of-gold. Nothing like a hard drive failure just before a, uh, hard drive that may be coming Friday on the roads. In addition to our main weather computer, I had some radio computer problems also this morning also. So if you’re a Smiley listener, no-I’m not […]

Snow Patrol
February 20th, 2008 No Comments
Most of our weather watchers have phoned in with two inch totals from the snow earlier today. The National Weather Service in Indy logged an inch and a half. The next system arrives by late afternoon or evening Thursday. Some snow then, and more of a freezing rain/sleet threat by early Friday morning. Please Stand […]

No Tipping Please
February 19th, 2008 No Comments
How windy was it Sunday? This mobile weather watcher couldn’t help but notice a tipped toilet during an extended walk with Mrs. Poteet. Neither of us was in the building at the time. Winds are cold today, but no 50 mph gusts. Looks like some snow early Wednesday–nothing heavy, but an inch or two is […]

Not So Manic Monday
February 18th, 2008 No Comments
Everything seems deflated in weather-land. Yesterday’s low pressure system is pulling away, lowering wind speeds. West winds are pulling in colder air, lowering temperatures. Some places could see the upper single digits tonight, and after today….we won’t see anything above freezing again until Friday. A couple of waves will spit snow showers on us. One […]

The Weekend Stuff
February 16th, 2008 No Comments
Looks pretty nice today, and pretty wet tomorrow, maybe with some thunder. Rain changing to snow? Not until after about 8 Sunday night…maybe an overnight dusting for those still commuting on the fine President’s Day holiday Monday. We will still put on a TV show. Not because we disrespect Presidents, but because we respect Ratings […]

Nothing Is Something
February 15th, 2008 No Comments
I know…you watch TV News and can’t believe it…but sometimes, there’s Nothing going on in weather land. No big storms, not even a storm that has the potential of big-ness. A cold front moves through the state today, generating no Headlines but just a few flurries, and a wind shift to the northwest.

Romantic Cloudiness
February 14th, 2008 2 Comments
Happy Valentines Day. What says LOVE more than stratus clouds? Just like you sometimes have to fight for your Right To Party, we have to fight for sunshine in Indiana during Winter. You’ve heard about Seasonal Affective Disorder, right? I hope the love(s) of your life keep it sunny for you today despite the weather. […]

Flurries Fly

Some cold left overs from yesterday’s system. The day starts with flurries, and ends with some sunshine. Next light snow chance is late Thursday evening into Friday.

No Heavy Snow
February 12th, 2008 5 Comments
No remaining snow warnings, no advisories, and no heavy snow warnings today! Just an inch or two expected, by late afternoon. Freezing rain could be a problem at times around Shelbyville, Bloomington, and Columbus.

Lower Totals
February 11th, 2008 No Comments
I wouldn’t expect more than 1-3 inches north and northwest of Indianapolis, with 2-4 inches possible in the metro area and to the south and southeast. Slightly higher amounts are possible in the far southeast corner of the state.

Snow Coming
February 10th, 2008 4 Comments
Low pressure looms for your Tuesday morning drive time. Snow could start late night Monday, and probably won’t end until late afternoon Tuesday. The heaviest snow will fall from around 3am to Noon. We could see 2-5 inches across central Indiana. Updates on tv and radio Monday morning. Anyone can buy bread when there’s a […]
