The original idea of this post (“Where is PP”) was to embed a Google calendar of upcoming events I was a part of. (Bad sentence construction.) It’s obviously taken a turn, thanks to your comments on the post. So: Just in case you haven’t already written and heard from me via email, or Facebook, or Twitter, or UStream, I will give you the short story. Channel 6 let me know in August that I was being taken off their morning show and moved to weekends. After considering my options, I decided to leave, and gave notice a few days after the schedule change began.
If you have emailed me and haven’t received a response yet–you will. I’m still a few days behind on that. It’s easier to stay on top of the social networks since I’m on them all the time. For those who may not know, I’m on the web at http://www.paulpoteet.com, and from there you can find links to me on Twitter, Facebook, WZPL, WQME, and WXXC. I’m still doing everything else I was doing, and am even playing around with a studio webcam on Live Stream, for those who really want to still “watch” me in the morning! If you’re with me in these places, you’ll know the places I’ll be in next.
BTW, since it is an FAQ in the hundreds of responses I’ve read: My buddy Tom will be fine. We talk or email every day. He’s a clever talent, and I look forward to working with him again. Because he owes me money.

i only watched RTV Morning news because of the fun way that you presented the weather..Your humor really uplifted me especially when the heavy Snow hit us up here in West lafayette..RTV-should be ashamed of themselves to put a better looking personality on TV only because of the way they look..She cant hold a candle to you.I no longer watch 6 Morning show..Happy Holidays
Well, that explains why we haven’t seen you-thought you were on vacation. My girls and I watched every morning and now it’s just not the same. My youngest enjoys the bantering btwn you & Tom and now she’s not happy since she doesn’t get to see you.
Paul, my husband and I miss you in the morning! We enjoyed the weather and the news so much better when you were there! I haven’t watched the morning show for a while because I’ve been getting up later but I got up early last week because of the snow, turned on the tv to see what you had to say about it and saw you were gone. Thought you were on vacation. Tuned in again this week and you still aren’t there———-so I googled and here you are. And here I’ll be from now on for my snow news.
RTV just lost my morning viewership. And I am checking out the other stations for nightly news because the new format is awful. Guess I’m not the audience they are looking for…………and I thought I was in a desired demographic. OH WELL. Best of luck to you Paul.
Hey Paul… we miss you as our trusty weatherman on channel 6. We are boycotting that station now. That will teach em to take Indy’s favorite weatherman off week day mornings! We are glad we still get to hear your cheery report and witty humor on Smiley!

Now that we’re retired we got into the habit of RTV and coffee in the morning and we always looked forward to your quick wit, patter with Tom and your zingy comments and one-liners…..it took a while for me (I’m ilTwitterate) to find out what happened – we thought you were sick or on vacation. What in the world were they thinking by offering you weekends? No one else on that channel even comes close to being as entertaining or charming as you were. We really miss you and wish you and Mrs. Poteet Merry Christmas. Hope to see you on another Indy channel in the morning real soon!

What happened? I have watched RTV6 in the mornings for many years and have enjoyed seeing your reports everyday. I have a 50 min commute to work everyday and depended on your weather report dailey. It is not the same without you in the mornings. The network has made a big mistake and I have switched to another station. Good luck to you!
oh gosh. .I’ve tried. .I’ve honestly tried to watch RTV of a morning. .I’ve tried to give Crystal an honest try. .but I just can’t do it anymore!!!! I miss you terribly Paul!!! What am I going to do when the snow hits this week and your not there on the tv telling me to stay home?!? I hope to see your smiling face somewhere on the tv soon. I used to always watch channel 13 (no reason in particular, just habit), but my husband started watching RTV morning news, and I really liked it. WE both loved the banter between you and Tom. It was refreshing. I really like Dan and Grace as well. I don’t have a problem with Crystal, but I would much rather have you doing the weather. You seem much more real, and like you know what you’re talking about. Crystal…not so much. You will certainly be missed, and I still enjoy listening to you in the mornings on ZPL.
WOW! Sorry to read the news you’ve been replaced. I, like other thought you were on vacation. I miss you on the “sixes” and Crystal just isn’t cutting it. I left as an evening channel 6 viewer when they changed the format a couple years ago, but now I will not be watching their morning news either due to you not being there.
What are they thinking? You were a positive staple in many central Indiana homes. Obviously channel 6 doesn’t need the revenue of their am commercial customers huh? Best wishes to you and the family!

I’ve been asking “where is Paul”? I thought you were on vacation. Today I decided to do some research and discovered you are gone. I love Grace but I won’t watch anymore because of the way they make changes when there’s no reason to change. There’s not another personality on the morning show like yours and you and Grace complimented each other so well. I started with Ch 8 when I moved here, got sick of it, moved to 13, Chuck couldn’t get it right but then I found you. With you gone, there’s no reason for me to watch. Sorry to hear you are no longer at RTV. First we lost “Swoop”, a heck of a guy and now we have lost the only entertainment local TV had to offer. I really enjoyed your work and sense of humor.

My boys and I watched you every weekday to see what the weather was going to be before going to school. We sure do miss you. We thought you were on vacation like everyone else thought. Crystal just doesn’t work for us in the morning – it’s just not the same.

I have been watching Channel 6 in the morning for over 20 years–mostly because of the whole morning crew. I always turned on to hear your forecast and loved the whole team. I loved watching you and Tom together and really miss you. The morning team suffered a great loss. Crystal just doesn’t compare!! I too hope to see you again on the air soon.

I have switched to another station for my morning news , I did not have any choice my converter box stopped getting channel 6. BUT none the less I do miss Paul and I think taking him off the air was a mistake. Crystal is nice but no real sense of warm or personality.
Paul – I definitely miss seeing you doing the weather — Hate to say it, but Crystal’s little Shirley Temple voice and mannerisms are just more than I can take! I still prefer Ch 6 for news, but have to change the channel when it comes to weather. I just googled you today and found out what happened — hope to stay connected – sounds like you have a lot of interesting stuff going on!

Hi Paul. I’m another fan who misses you greatly in the mornings. She may be a fine person and may even be a good meteorologist; but channel 6 made a huge mistake. Crystal must be taking voice lessons, but her voice continues to annoy. She cannot compare to you or how pleasant you made my mornings. How can people make such poor decisions? I’m glad to get your Facebook postings and your weather updates. Thank you for a job well done even if the “powers that be” can’t appreciate it.
Morning weather is terrible and not even a collection of the new meteorologists add up to your quality. What were they thinking???? At least you did not disappear and your professionalism is still available to us all via this website. Our computer access is shaky here in the country but when I can access your info, I enjoy it. Thank you for continuing to provide us with the best, most accurate weather around!

I am so happy I found my paul poteet…You and tom and grace always helped me get in a happy mood every morning. The people in charge at channel 6 really screwed up. You even made the weather fun (as well as accurate). There is just no point in watching channel 6 anymore. I still like Tom and Grace but I will watch another channel for my information and listen to you as often as I can on your new ventures. Good luck and you are greatly missed. Since your departure, I refuse to watch channel 6 in the morning and only rarely watch it at 7, because I work late. Hello. Like the others lamenting here I too thought you were merely on vacation for a week or two, but realized that you must have moved to a different shift. Since I only catch the news at the local YMCA in the morning, I knew you must have been gone. I looked forward to your forecasts as well as the banter between you and Grace…but now..it just is not the same at all.

Crystal is a sweet girl but a tad bit boring. I really, really miss the way you made me laugh every day. Especially when most days for me are definitely not funny.
