A Good Belt

So I’m enjoying this running (if you’re Ron Burgandy: “Jogging”) thing, which has led me to do more and more of it. Which leads to more mileage in this, the hottest part of the year. I’ve learned that not only is hydration healthy, it also improves your performance. Some runners strap on one of these multi-bottle-belt deals.

Hydration Pack II

Not me. That’s just too much going on. I did test drive (test run?) a belt with just one bottle, but I still wasn’t feeling it. Or, I guess I was feeling it a little too much. The good people at The Running Company steered me toward a streamlined solution that puts the water in the palm of my hand.

Hydration Pack I

You slip your hand in between a moisture-wicking strap (a phrase I thought I’d never type) and the ergonomically correct bottle. Piece of cake. (Which I don’t carry with me.) The drinking-while-running thing is still a work in progress. If you see me running past, beware of the Drool Factor. I probably feel better than I look. The camera adds ten pounds; running adds ten ounces.

Hi Paul - interesting post. Like you, I don’t like the water belts. I’ve also found camelbaks and hand grips cumbersome so I have been working on a bottle that straps to your arm, just like mp3 players. Its called the Body Bottle and it came out last year, but we’re in the midst of release v2008 soon. If you check it out, let me know what you think - the link is http://www.bodybottle.com
