Did you celebrate Dolly Parton’s 62nd birthday today? What would you get for the woman who has everything? Or has had everything done? Dolly defies categorization as easily as she defies gravity. She’s got a great sense of humor, and is always fun to watch in any kind of format. I hear from people who know people who know people that she’s genuine (her personality, at least) and not at all…uh…stuck up.
At an awards ceremony last year she said that she hopes fans visiting her final resting place will make pilgrimages by mule to the peaks of her mammary mounds.
“I can just see two big mountains growing up out of my grave, and people going around on mule rides to look at them. Throughout my whole career, I’ve been known for two things -I’m talking about my music and my lyrics!”
Rim shot! And:
“Songwriting is my favourite thing to do. It is my private time with God. That’s when I feel closest to God even when the songs I’m writing are just God-awful.”
Dolly, God broke the mold (molds?) when He made you. Happy Birthday.
